Enterprise Pay Gateway vs Shopify Payments

Shopify Payments is excellent if your business is a product catalogue with a cart and shipping. Enterprise Pay Gateway suits service businesses: appointments, packages, memberships, invoices and deposits, where the checkout is a link or an invoice rather than a shopping cart.

Last updated 9 September 2026

Both take cards well. The difference is the shape of the business each was designed around. Shopify optimises the path from browsing a product grid to a shipped parcel. We optimise the path from a quote, booking or membership sign-up to money in the account.

Common questions

Can I keep my Shopify store and still use Enterprise Pay Gateway?
Yes, and many merchants do. Keep Shopify for shipped products and use us for services, memberships, deposits and invoices. You can import your Shopify catalogue so pricing stays consistent.
Will Shopify charge me extra if I take payments elsewhere?
Shopify's additional transaction fee applies to orders processed through its checkout with a third-party gateway. Payments you take on your own storefront outside Shopify are not Shopify orders.

What would we cost you?

Move the slider to your monthly card volume. Stripe keeps billing you its own processing rates directly — this is only what Enterprise Pay Gateway adds on top.
